Too many quarters

If a player plays more than the 5 quarters allowed and it is brought to our attention what do we do?I don't think there is anything that we can do, because it is out of our jurisdiction. I was told the team offended would have to take it up with the state. Is this right or wrong?:

You are correct. There is nothing in our rulebook that addresses quarters played. But check with your state board to make sure there are no special provisions for your state which would require officials intervening. But I doubt it very seriously.

Even if your state has a rule, it is not likely the officials have any say in this either. Our state has some kind of provision about quarters played for a season (what they are I do not exactly know). Officials ply no role in the enforcement of this rule. In your area things could be different, but unlikely.

Peace

In Oregon, the "offended team" has to file a complaint or some such form with the state, and then the state determines if this indeed happened. Then if it did, the team that committed the infraction forfeits. The officials have nothing to do with it.

In Missouri, it's up to the team to report it to the state. Game officials are not responsible for enforcing such a rule.

I've had coaches tell me that - expecting me to enforce that rule.

"Sorry coach, that's not within my jurisdiction - you'll have to report that to the activities commission."

Don't get involved in this one. It's a matter for the coaches, the school, and scorekeeper to keep track of, not us. Stear clear.

Exactly, I don't keep the score and I don't count quarters played!
