ncaa men
 
with players available, can a team play w/ 4?

the only reference i have found in the rule book so far is that a team can not play w/ more than 5...

You can only play with less than 5 if all other squad members are not eligible or able to play. Iow, if they're available, you gotta play 'em. NCAA rule 3-1-2.

...and you need 5 to start. Rule 3-1.1.

ok...if a team has 4 on the floor and the officials do not recognize it, what is the penalty?

Get the team back to 5 the next time there's an opportunity to substitute.
