Foul, T, Posession

A1 is fouled while shooting by B1. Teams lined up for two shots by A1. Ref gives ball to A1. Buzzer. Table announces B1 is not in the book.

1 - A1 shoots 2
2 - A anyone shoots T's
3 - A gets ball at Division Line.

Correct?

Correct?

Yes. (And ideally, this buzzer would happen before the ball is at A1's disposal.)

That's correct.

Correct?

... and the lane is cleared on the FT's #1 & 2.

True for NFHS, not for NCAA, where you'd:

0) Not call a T if team B has had any scorebook related T previously. (See Rule 3-3.3.)

1) Assuming a T is called on team B, let anyone from team A (including a sub) shoot the FTs for team A (although both must be shot by the same player).

2) Go to PoI, which is A1's FTs with players lined up as usual.

0) I thought this was true in NFHS also, but put my confidence in my answer only about 70%, so am I wrong?

1) Again in NFHS, can two different players take one T shot apiece? I seem to remember that, but place this confidence in myself only about 10%.

Thanks.

100% correct on both counts

Due to the wording Lotto used, this is not true in the NFHS. It is almost true though. A team may be charged with TWO technical fouls (possibly three if you would issue a T for removing the scorebook from the table) for scorebook related items. They could get one at the ten minute mark for failing to designate their five starters and/or supply the roster to the scorer. The team could also get another T after the ten minute mark for any of the five items listed in article 2. It would however be true to say that a team can only receive a maximum of one technical foul for violating article 2.

Rule 10, Section 1
A team shall not:
ART. 1 . . . Fail to supply the scorer with the name and number of each team member who may participate and designate the five starting players at least 10 minutes before the scheduled starting time.
PENALTY: (Art. 1) One foul for both requirements. Penalized when it occurs.
ART. 2 . . . After the 10-minute time limit specified in Article 1:
a. Change a designated starter unless necessitated as in 3-2-2a.
b. Add a name to the team member list.
c. Require the scorer to change a team member's or player's number in the scorebook.
d. Require a player to change to the number in the scorebook.
e. Have identical numbers on team members and/or players.
PENALTY: (Art. 2) One foul only per team regardless of the number of infractions. (Art. 2a) Penalized if discovered before ball becomes live to start game. (Arts. 2b, c, d) Penalized when they occur. (Art. 2e) Penalized when discovered.

In NFHS yes, in the NCAA no.

NFHS:
2003-04 NFHS BASKETBALL RULES INTERPRETATIONS

SITUATION 13: Technical foul shooter A1 attempts the first free throw and substitute A6 attempts the second.
RULING: Legal. Technical foul free throws may be attempted by any player or eligible substitute. Therefore, two different players may attempt the throws. (8-3)

NCAA: 2006-07 Rules Book

Rule 8 Free Throw

Section 2. Who Attempts

Art. 3. Technical fouls
The free throws awarded because of any technical foul may be attempted by a player on the offended team, including an entering player, who shall be designated by the head coach or captain of the offended team; however, the same player shall shoot both free throws.
