IHSA Mercy Rule?

Hi,

Is there a Mercy rule in the IHSA (Illinois) this year for tournament games? Would regular season games count if the schools AD wants it?

Thanks

30 point spread at the end of three quarters. IESA uses it for regular season games, too. I'm drawing a blank on regular season for HS because none of my games have been like that this year, but I think it's not used by for the regular season unless adopted by conferences. M&M, Rut, ot TJ1 will sound off on this soon, I'm sure.

Not for use in regular season games unless it's a tournament. As far as I know, conferences can't adopt a rule like this.

If used in a tournament, 30 point spread. Clock stops on: technical fouls, DQ's, timeouts, injuries, and Official's timeout. After reaching the 30 point spread, the clock continues to run. Nothing can change this, not even overtime.

Nope. However, if it's that bad, coaches can agree to shorten the quarter(s), per 5-5-3.

Here's a recent thread talking about this topic:

Also, see this IHSA Ruling and Notices link. It's listed under Notices, number 1.
