Closely Guarded Player
A1 is closely guarded by an opponent, ended his dribble and looks for his teammates. He got intimidated by his defense and unable to pass the ball. He INTENTIONALLY bounced/tossed the ball into his defender. It bounces on the floor and A1 took immediate control of it, then dribbles again. Is there an infraction of the rule?
Kindly reply as per latest FIBA rules. |

The action is legal and the 5 second count is stopped. You can't judge the intention, only the facts. Of course, if the closely guarded player slams the ball in the opponent's face, this can and should be regarded as a technical foul, possibly disqualifying. Ciao |
