Reporting Box

Reporting box ... where is it? And does it differ from 2-man to 3-man mechanics?

If you are referring to the reporting area for officials, it is usually between the 3 point lines and away from the benches. The best way to know where it the box is located is to look in an Official's Manual of some kind. Also the reporting areas are the same no matter how many officials are on the game.

Peace

Between both 3-point lines? covering the division line?

Well it is in the middle of the floor. Does that help? It is a lot easier if you look in an Official's Manual.

Peace

Thanks. And I can't find my officials manual - that is the reason for me asking. I will continue to dig through my office. Have a good day!

Yes. Roughly, the width is from the top of one key to the top of the other, and the depth is from 1/4 of the way onto the court to 1/2 way onto the court.

Reporting box? We don't need no stinking reporting boxes!!!

The manual clearly defines the reporting box. In 3-man I use it a lot b/c most times I have to come table-side after reporting. However in instances where I "report and go back" I don't think I ever make it to the reporting box.

In 2-man I would say I use it about 50% of the time, the 50% being those ocassions in which I am officiating table-side when I have a foul call.

I've gotten away with it so far.

Oh yeah, I forgot. Rec League and military intra-murals, my percentages go down to about 25%. :D

The location of the box changed a little in the most recent NFHS officials manual. Iirc it is from the top of one key to the top of the other in width. It is from the middle of the key to where the arc intersects the baseline on the side nearest the table in height. Can you picture that?
