College stripes

Who is the manufacture for the college officials stripes? Since they have gone to the black stripe under the arm I was wondering who supplied their shirts? Do they have one supplier or are there many?

Official99 Wed Dec 20, 2006 08:21am

You can get them from almost anywhere now... Cliff Keen has a nice shirt and so doesn't The Officials Choice.

Grail Wed Dec 20, 2006 09:23am

While we're on the topic of the "new" College style shirt. The IHSA (Illinois) has just issued a message that these shirts are NOT approved to be worn.

BktBallRef Wed Dec 20, 2006 10:12am

Kind of silly. If all three officials are wearing the shirt, what does it matter?

BktBallRef Wed Dec 20, 2006 10:26am

What does any of that have to do with wearing the shirt with the black inseam under the arm?

JeffRobinson Wed Dec 20, 2006 10:40am

These shirts are approved in Minnesota as long as all 3 officials wear them.

So you're saying you wouldn't care if the crew before your HS game were all wearing the gray shirts? I mean, what does it matter as long as all 3 are wearing the same shirt? Right? :)

And the problem with that would be...?

If the level allows grey shirts to be worn, then what difference does it make?

The things I do not get about these shirts are they are still black and white. Why does it matter if the all officials wear the same exact jersey? If that is the case then we should be upset when one person wears a mesh shirt and another person wears polyester.

Peace

I'm with jrut on this. Mesh/poly. Flag/no flag. Inset stripe/no inset. The differences are so minute. Black shoes, black socks, black pants, black and white striped shirt, and a whistle on a lanyard = go get'um!

Better make sure that they all have the same slacks too...can't have just one with pleats!!

JRutledge Wed Dec 20, 2006 12:39pm

My point is there are so many styles of striped shirts. I am not sure why these panel shirts are so different? If you look at all the styles of shirts people wear, it is pretty obvious to see the differences. If the shirts are black and white, then that should be good enough. I do not make the rules, so I will do what they want. I wish they would have said something definitive before the season started.

Peace

WOW!!!! I didn't realize this was going to get such a response. I do agree with some of you on this, if one is going to wear the shirt the the inset stripe, then the whole crew should wear them. Not two with and one without or vice versa. That is just too much of a difference, it is not the same as each person wearing a different brand of stripes without the inset, in that case it should not matter.

Wrong.

I'm saying the rule states "The official's uniform shall be a black-and-white striped shirt, black pants, shoes and socks." What does part of this rule does that shirt violate?

WAWhistleBlower Wed Dec 20, 2006 02:42pm

Had one game where one partner wore the inset stripe. The funny thing was that because he was much more barrel chested than either me or our third, it just made it look like he had an extra piece sewn in to make it shirt fit. :D

Not flattering on his part...

Ditto in Wisconsin! However....they were very cool when asked about adopting an optional "alternate" shirt, like the 'Gray Shirt w/black pinstripe' option. (That was two years ago.) What's the difference if the crew is uniform? Any arguements?

These are my feelings, but whatever. So be it I guess...

TJ, I ordered three of these shirts for my crew, so that we would all have identical shirts. Ordered from Honig's in early November. They were backordered until 11/27. I called on 11/30 and was told they were still on BO until mid-January. So even if you wanted to, you probably couldn't get one anyway. :(

I saw they were backordered until December. I didn't realize they have pushed it back yet again. Well, I broke down and ordered mine from the OC. To be honest, I was happy with the service I got from there and their shipping costs were way, way down!

So if push comes to shove, you might give the OC a try if you really want them. It seems like everyday I'm getting an e-mail from them for some promo.

I know a lot of you do not like Official's Choice.....I don't either because they "play" with their shipping rates so much. Shirt pricing seems GREAT....but you get "nailed" on shipping if you choose to order more than one. (Even then....they play with that "new" single shirt rate as well.)

Whatever.....if you're deperate.....OC has the shirt in stock as of this writing....if you want an American flag on the sleeve.....they "play" with that price as well. (Guess they suck the thumb....hold it in the air....and see which way the wind is blowing???? :(

Merry Christmas.....and PEACE...Please! :o

Shef24 Thu Dec 21, 2006 07:37pm

Well, I did order three of the "collegiate" shirts from the OC because they were the only place that had them in stock and for $19.95 each. I did not think that the shipping was bad for the three of them at $10.63.
I just ordered them yesterday, so I do not know how soon I will be receiving them, but I will keep everyone updated.
