Here is the situation. Whistle for held ball arrow points toward white. After the whistle white is given a technical foul for elbowing opponent. Blue is given two shots and the ball opposite the table. What should now happen to the arrow?

The arrow stays pointing to white's basket. The arrow is switched only after the throw-in ends or a throw-in violation occurs.

Nothing

Arrow stays the same.

Arrow does not change until the throw-in ends on the throw in for AP. Since the throwin does not end here because of the T by A. The arrow stays pointing to A. See 6-4 (arrow changes when throwin ends or violation by throwin team)

Defintions- throw in ends when it is touched by a person inbounds or OOB... (lets not go again with that one...)

Had this scenario in my varsity game Saturday. Held ball, arrow to white, but the T was on Blue for elbowing her adversary. We all (three-whistle) got together to make sure the arrow was correct. White got the ball, but kept the arrow.

Just to be clear: in the OP, you don't switch the arrow because the throw-in is not an AP throw-in. THAT throw-in is the result of the technical foul, which supersedes the previous held-ball call.

The same applies to Snaq's sitch: white got the ball because of the T, and kept the arrow because there was no AP throw-in. See also 6.4.1 sitB (different case, same principle).

A violation by the throw-in team before the throw-in ends their AP throw-in (switch the arrow), but a (common) foul by either team does not. 6.4.5 sitA.
