I have the same problem, but to a lesser degree. I have never bitten through a whistle. But in rather stressful situations I find myself biting down pretty good. Frankly, my jaw starts to hurt too. Like Tim said, you need to find a way to relax. I use the following:

Imagine, just for a moment, that you're in your happy place. There are beautiful, snow-capped mountains in the distance, and you're standing in a lush, green field. You are next to a crystal clear stream. The only sounds you hear are the gentle wafting of the breeze, the burbling of the stream, and a slight thrashing under the water.

You look down. The stream is so clear you can see every feature of the stream bed. There are moss-covered rocks and braches. Lurking near the bank is a large fish, eying you suspiciously. And right next to you, there is a face. You recognize the face. It's that coach who's been giving you grief. He's trying to call out to you; there is panic in his eyes. But you can't hear him. There is a pair of hands, grasping his throat, holding him under the water. You recognize those hands. They're yours.

Ah yes, your happy place.

If that won't help you relax, you may need meds!
Now I'm having a "Happy Gilmore" flashback

I called Fox40 Incorporated and they said to just keep doing what you're doing. There is nothing you can do about it.

I like the CMG. But some people chew gum and it seems to be folks who wear out whistles with teethmarks, so you might try that.
Very first whistle I had was a CMG. I tore it to pieces, granted it was my first time on the floor and I was nervous. I chew gum every game and it seems to help. Just like M&M, I've worked a nice little groove in mine too. Now granted, I have about 15 whistles, but that's nothing... right M&M.

But anyways, it seems to work for me.

M&M,
If you ever need one, just ask Tanner. He probably has about... oh say what 30 in his bag?

So Juulie, what did you decide? I had two of the ugliest most boring games last night, so about 1/2 way through I had plenty of time to pay attention to see what I do and see if I can offer any advice. I hold it squarely in the front of my mouth and keep it loose enough that I can actually move it up and down easily which I will often do during FTs, etc. It's also loose enough that I can talk with it in my mouth, (get out of the lane, don't lean on him, do not reach across the line, etc.) I was surprised at how loosely I do bite the thing. Relaxing your jaw will also relax your whole body and your whole game. I really do like the CMG's best. If you don't like the regular CMG try a mini. It's the same size as the old 40CMGs and I think they have plenty of volume. The people at FOX 40 say they sound identical. I use them for VB all the time.
