According to ESPN who is airing the game, Joey went down early with a apparent knee injury.

Talk about earning your pay check tonight. Those boys were probably running like crazy. I wonder at half if they went over two-man mechanics?! ;)

It might be time for Joey to take a serious look at his physical health. There have only been a handful of 2-man situations in the NBA in the past few years and Joey has been the reason for three of them, including a playoff game.

Joey is the one that does the side step shuffle in slot during transition, right?

Affirmative.

Yeah, it is getting to be common for him. However, he is probably making around 300k and that will probably be hard to walk away from willingly.

JugglingReferee Sat Dec 09, 2006 06:21pm

Maybe if they reduce his schedule, he wouldn't force as many, if any, 2-person crews. He could still be involved, make some coin, and the NBA could bring in others in a transitional state.

True, the impetus is probably going to have to come from the NBA director of officials or the league office.

Ahem, try closer to 500,000. Veteran status makes close to 300,000 and Joey is a night in night out Crew Chief.

if he's making 500k it's just more reason for him to break off. You're supposed to work all game long for that pay, not have your colleuges run 2 man...
