Anyone hear anything about the NF allowing US flag patches on uniforms outside the "legal" parameters for commemorative patches?

I, for one, would ignore any uniform violations for this.

3.4.14 The flag must be 2x3 inches or smaller and should not interfere with seeing the number.

Michigan posted that very thing on their web site.
It is also allowed on the right sleeve of our stripes.
Just like Tim said... 2x3.

No way.

When we start basketball season here in Texas (November) if teams come out with flags that cover the entire uniform, they will play without penalty in my games!

There is a time for rules and there is a time for things that are more important.

There is a dispute in Chapel Hill about the size of a sign that contains an American Flag (it's larger than 6 square feet). Can you imagine city government personnel making an issue about something like that at this point in time?!? Any official who literally interpreted the flag decoration rule would be doing just as much a disservice.

I hope I don't get put into the position of having to make that choice between a patriotic coach that cannot measure, and a patriotic coach that wants a rule enforced.

I am all for the flag, but if the other coach makes it an issue, and it is obviously too big I think you have to enforce it.

I have better things to do than explain to the state why I was intentionally disregarding a rule.

Now, having said that I am not A) going to take a tape measure with me, B) even mention it.

If a coach gets a whim and reads the rule book to know this My answer will be, "It looks OK to me...."

Thanks guys. That's pretty much how I feel. No matter what size the flag patch is, it's always going to look 2x3 to me.

BTW - a local high school sent a kid home the other day for wearing a T-shirt with a flag on the front. They said it violated dress code (the T-shirt, not the flag design). The next day they apologized and said they were not going to enforce the rule for a while.

I bet that High School had briefly forgotten spirit and intent.
