While such an offer by the rookie may be well intentioned, I could never accept it. Even if I agreed to go with his input, if it's wrong I would have be the one to take the blame. It was my crew; it was my decision; it was my responsibility.

I have to agree with this. It is ultimatley up to the R to make the final decision. If the crew has to get together during a game for a conference in regards to administerig a rule it is up to the R to make the final decision. The supervisors first call is always to the R.
