I'd recommend Honig's. I don't know if they have the best price or not, but they are reliable and knowledgeable---absolutely great to deal with.

Agreed. I've also had good luck with Between the Lines (http://www.btlofficialsgear.com) and Gerry Davis (http://www.gerrydavis.com).

From your screen name, it appears you are from Illinois. What part?

https://officials1st.com/ , http://www.ump-attire.com/index.html, http://www.purchaseofficials.com/

I'ved used all three and all very competitive and good service.

I've had very good luck with Between the Lines. I have also had good luck with Get Official... or whatever the actual name is. It's the company that took over the the Fed stopped selling stuff.

By the way, you need to be careful. All of these places usually offer starter packages. The funniest starter package I found was from +POS. They stated they offered everything you needed to walk out onto the court. The problem was that the package didn't include any shoes. :D

I've really had good luck with every place I've ordered on the internet. At times the Official's Choice has had slow service, but I've been pretty lucky with them. This year I got the majority of my stuff from Gerry Davis. I'm particular about getting Cliff Keen shirts just because I'm a pretty boy and I like the way those shirts fit me best.

I've used this company a couple of time. I was very pleased with their service.

When I first started out, I was a POS guy. But now I am an exclusive guy of Honigs. If they dont have a particular item in your region, they will ship it out of another part of the country. They also have gret customer service. There prices are in line with everyone else. Perhaps a little cheaper.

Thanks to all...by the way I am from central Il.

This is a personal preference (and often, regional) question. I don't stick with one supplier, but use several as I work both football and basketball.

For me, I get my football knickers, football flags and accessories, football hats, and soon to be basketball pants from Honigs. I get all my shirts (foot/basket) from The Officials Choice. The jury is still out on football socks, but if I continue with Twin City, I'll get those from the dealer in San Diego (forgot the name).

The majority of the rest of my gear (whistles, lanyards, etc.), I get from local dealers who show up at association or state meetings or a local guy here in North Texas (officialsports.net). I get to know these folks, especially the north Texas guy, and will buy from them when I can. As for socks, briefs/tights, etc., and even shoes, I usually buy those from general internet sites. I use under armour tactical, and only cop or military online sites sell that stuff.

As you might be able to figure out, I'm pretty picky about my gear, but if I like something, I keep with it.

I've been very happy with everything I've ordered online or by phone, except for one pair of shoes I got with a starter football package. Despite having ordered my size, they were too small. So before I order shoes online now, I go to a shoe store and find a similar pair to try on. Then I order the size that actually fits. It's worked so far.

I tell ya what....nothing gets by TJ, that's for sure! :D

Whatever you do, don't buy from +POS. I've given them numerous opportunites but their quality is poor and their service is lousy.

Honigs is usually competitively priced and their service is excellent.

However, I like Sansabelt slacks, which I get from DDD Officials Wear, near Charlotte.

I buy a lot from www.purchaseofficials.com there's a buddy near me that owns a distributorship - but everything I purchase from them is good.

I have always had good luck with Lester's Upstate Sports ( www.Lestersupstatesports.com ) Service is second to none.

I cannot help you with the shoes. I would imagine that if you picked up some non-hemmed pants, you could get them tailored to fit your needs. I would hope that you get your pants tailored so they look good, not to fit a set size. Your referee pants should not fit the same way your pants do you wear on a suit.

Peace

I am unsure what the difference is. Could you please help me out

Thanks!

This is the best picture I could find.

This picture is a good example as to what your pants need to look like.

Are you sure you don't want 2 shoes? :D

I would call Honig's if that size is not on their website. They may be able to special order for you. They can also hem the pants for you if you know how long you want them.

refnrev Tue Nov 07, 2006 03:55pm

38"! Man, how tall are you anyway?

I wear a size 36 pant... i get my pants from Cliff Keen unhemed and usually have plenty of room to fit to my needs. as far as the shoe goes, good luck.

tjones1 Wed Nov 08, 2006 08:31am

Pants shouldn't be a problem, as long as you get them unhemed. Regarding the shoe, you're probably going to have to special order it from a local shoe store.

You'll be alright with this company. I've never used them, but I haven't heard anything bad about them and I've heard a few good comments. Go for the gold if they have what you want.

Depends on who you ask, I say it's not worth it. But you can decide for yourself. Here are a few threads discussing it.

has anyone used pro-ref.com? I am having trouble deciding weather or not to go with pro-ref.com which is a little cheaper or between the lines. Any thoughts???

tjones1 Wed Nov 15, 2006 08:40am

I've never used Pro-Ref, however, I just looked at it...looks ok. Between The Lines is a great place to shop. I've used them a few times and been 100% happy!
