Rule clarification
Offensive player is fouled on a layup and ref calls a two shot foul but another player on the offensive team is called for offensive goal tending. How many foul shots does fouled player receive, one or two and why?

I am assuming you mean basket interference (even thought offensive players can GT the basketball, but it is very rare) in this play. Whether you have a BI or GT, it will not change the type of foul unless a defensive player comitted one of these violations. Peace |
If he's fouled in the act of shooting, he's awarded 2 free throws (or 3 on a 3 point attempt). Unless, that is, the try attempt is made, then it counts and the fouled player is awarded one free throw. If an offensive violation causes the ball to become dead after the shot, any resulting basket made would be waived off, thus, we are back to the 2 or 3 free throws. If the defensive team commits the basket interference or goaltending, then you'd award the points for the shot as if it were made and award one free throw.

Don't you mean that the basket was not counted for the offensive BI, and he was shooting a 2-point basket? |
Quote:
He gets two free throws and two shots (a left and a right) upside the head of his fellow teammate for committing the basket interference. |
