This was cool

I just watched a WNBA game, and it was pretty cool how they had Bob Trammell one of the officials mic'd up. Now I know they do this occasionally in NBA usually with Steve Javie, Joe Crawford, or Dick Bavetta. But, they only let you hear it occasionally, you could listen Trammell the whole game, pretty much everything he said to players and coaches.

I just thought that was pretty cool, specially for guys like us, what you you think the chances of them doing this in the NBA are?

I was flipping thru the channels and stopped when I heard him talking. I thought I'd hang out for a bit and see what happens.

That crew really kicked a continuation call and he had it right but the calling official still counted it. Otherwise, they did a great job.

Ooooooooh yeah, they blew the continuation call! I really wanted to see what he had to say bout that one, but I never heard anything. I DID hear him say two shots before it was reported by his partner, then one of the lady refs scored the bucket, so that tells me he never thought it should have counted. He had one of the double whistles on the call, and gave it up. OUCH!!!! As the game wound up, this could have cost the game, cuz with just a few seconds left, it was a two point game. Maybe the two points that were errouneously scored?

Then why do they use perspective officials for the NBA at the WNBA first? I am sure when the guys get their check they might beg to differ.

Peace

You have to watch something first to have a problem with it.

Ron, the reason I made the comments in the first place is the fact the WNBA season is damn near over and this is probably one of the first times someone even mentioned anything about that league. Guys come here all the time complain they do not watch the NBA, but we always have knock down drag out debates over some play or situation that happens in a big NBA game every year and especially during the playoffs. I would have said the same thing if someone mentioned the MLS. Some things just are not on the sports radar.

Peace

The only reason I watch the WNBA games is that I am a women's college official and I am watching the officials to see if I can pick-up something to improve my game.

I work Men's college and there is not a whole lot I can learn from an NBA game about officiating college games. The WNBA and the Women's College officials are often the same people, so you might get something out of it. For those that are working HS and Men's college game, watching WNBA games I get very little out of it.

Peace
