Stripes is referring to a part in the movie The Jerk starring Steve Martin when the new phone books arrive and his name apears in the phone book and he is elated because he is "someone" because his name appears in the phone book.

My favorite line from the Jerk was when he was describing when he grew up on the farm and he says: I was born a poor black boy!! There he is, white an can be with no rhythm at all really thinking he was black. You just have to see it....

Does Girls' Basketball season run concurrent with the Girls' Volleyball?

Michigan is the last state standing that has Girls' hoops in the fall and Volleyball in the winter. Some other states will have fall hoops until their lawsuit kicks in.
Court case for Michigan is to be held in September, moved from August.
Surveys show preference by coaches, schools and players prefer the fall season for hoops..., but surveys are based on statistics, and one can do most anything with statistics, I think.
I like fall hoops.... I like hoops whenever, I guess.

In Virginia, girls A & AA schools play in the fall until 2003. Our classification is based on enrollment and AAA is the largest classification. The largest enrollment in AAA is about 3,700 students -- talk about overcrowded! Have my first AA game this Friday (JV girls).

MHSAA said today that the Schools get their books from a Distributor in a bulk mailing.
Then the Distributor mails books to MHSAA.
Only then, does MHSAA bulk mail to Officials.
The Hoops books have not been received by MHSAA yet.

I guess the school must have ordered a book from NFHS because they stripped the floor and re-did it. Only problem, they forgot the coaches box. Guess they'll have to sit ;) Gym looks real nice now though..
