When drivin to the basket?

Hi, all how's it going. I was wondering, when I drive to the basket, can I put my arm out a little to push the defender off just a little? because taller players rip the ball from me or block me a lot. I don't know what to do.

Either learn to drive to the hoop stronger without pushing off or take up bowling.

Sure you can!

And a foul will promptly be called. :)

If I see your arm extend enough to gain any advantage whatsoever, I'm calling an offensive foul.

I say this in all honesty and not being silly, but if you're in situations where players are ripping the ball off you or blocking your shot, then you're probably not making a good decision by taking the ball to the hoop at that time. Look to pass, pump fake to get your defender out of legal guarding position, etc.

You don't say what level of ball you're playing in, but it sounds like you're a newer player and your skill level will improve, as well as, your decision making.

As for the push off, that's obviously going to be a foul against you, so I wouldn't even get into the habit of starting to do it.
