throw in ends
 

NCAA rules -- in rule 4-65-5 is says a throw-in ends when the ball is controlled inbounds; in rule 6-3-2, it says an alternating possession throw-in ends when the ball touches someone inbounds; can someone explain this difference to me? :confused:

The alt. possession part ends when the ball is touched, or touches, someone inbounds...the thow-in ends when the ball is controlled...it's all tied up in the team control foul language...in NCAA (Women's anyway) any foul commited by the inbounding team is a team control foul until the throw-in ends (when it is controlled by one of the teams). The alt. possession arrow will switch as soon as the ball is touched...

Rocky's answer is correct for the men's side, too.

Wrong, the arrow changes as soon as the ball is touched.

As JR said, nope...in NCAA, a foul commited by the inbounding team at this point would still be a team control foul, but in NFHS it would not...that's the big difference.
