Hey i have a dumb question - but does the NHFS rule book states that you need to use a "BLACK WHISTLE?" Cause I see this website sells yellow/orange color FOX 40.

Hey i have a dumb question - but does the NHFS rule book states that officials must use "BLACK WHISTLE?" Cause I see this website sells yellow/orange color FOX 40. They are kind of cool!!!

I'm guessing it says black whistle, a different color whistle really isn't acceptable and I know if I was using orange/red/yellow ect and my assignor saw me he would rip me a new one.

Yes, I believe it actually does say a black whistle or a black tip guard if you were using a metal whistle.
|
The other colors have been around since the beginning. When I used to lifeguard, we generally used them vs. black ones. The color adds distinction when you're in a life-threatening situation and are easily visualized.
Same concept as a red or orange lifejacket...makes it more visible to rescuers. |

I pick up the telephone, dial the number on the back of every issue of Referee magazine, tell the nice lady how many whistles and what kind I want, and give her a credit card number. Three or four days later they show up at my door! I never order through a website when I can talk to a live human being! |

refnrev, Along with Snake's question, what do they charge you for shipping? |
The whistles were a little bit cheaper than what you'd pay in a sporting goods store, but you had all of the choices of colors, sizes, and regular or CMG. They were quite a bit cheaper than a lot of internet sites I've seen. As for the shipping, it's been a while, but I think it was about $2.95. Last time I ordered some white mini cmg's and some black ones to use for volleyball. The first time I ordered some regular cmgs and some classics for soccer and volleyball. RR

I was recently shopping around for some Fox40's. I needed 10 of them for the rookie referees course I ran, and needed to find an online shop that delivered to Australia.
I found that Amazon.com had the Fox40 Pearl Whistle with breakaway lanyard for $3.49 each. Shipping cost another $10. What really impressed me was that I placed the order on a Thursday and the package arrived the following Tuesday - not bad for the other side of the world! |
