What are they? Besides ugly, I mean.

Come on Chuck. Many people wear ugly shoes like:

OC patent leather
Reebok patent leather
Converse patent leather
Nike Monarch

Ugly shouldn't stop someone from wearing a shoe! :D

I have a pair and really like the look. Unfortunately they bother my achillies (all mids do) so I don't wear them often, I have a pair of all black and partially patent addidas lows also. Other than that, they are pretty comfortable. Where did you find them available? I found mine on clearance a year ago.

Well, I am clearly becoming an old fogey very quickly. You like the look of these shoes? You like the shiny sides with the rubber (striated, no less) down the middle of the toe? I think it looks ridiculous, personally.

I'll shut up about it now. I know that nobody likes an old fart to comment on the new "cool" trend.

I like them because they are a little different that what most people wear. Besides, it's not like there's alot of choices for all black basketball shoes.
I do get lots of compliments on them when I do wear them, usually from the student section and look how some of them dress. I'm starting to talk myself out of ever wearing them again.

I thought Dan posted Chuck's shoes a couple months ago.... patent leather clown shoes. :D ;)

I guess I'm just a believer that the man makes the shoes, not the other way around.

I have a pair almost like these. Patent on the back, leather upper and rubber toe. They are ok, I have some achilles issues with them also.

For Chuck, I shine the toe so it is not so offensive, but IMO, it is an ugly shoe.

Stripes,
Those are my "go to" shoes also. Have you seen them anywhere recently? I ran across them on clearance at a Famous Footwear and haven't seen them since. They only had one pair in my size and I'd love to get another pair or two.

I bought mine at a Big 5 Sporting Goods. They were on sale, but not on close out IIRC.
