Uncharted Waters

I know this won't get many responses, but here goes.

At a tournament this weekend, we will be using the new 3-person mechanics developped by FIBA. It should be interesting, I've never used them before.

Refereeing around here is confusing at times. With this new experiment, I am now responsible to distinguish:

1. FIBA 2-person w/ modifications (HS and below)
2. FIBA 3-person w/ modifications (Canada Games teams)
3. FIBA 2-person w/ different modifications (college women)
4. NCAA 2-person w/ modifications (college men, this one is interesting cause officially there are no such mechanics!)
5. NCAA 3-person w/ modifications (university men)

This is typically Canadian (trying to please everyone)!
Is refereeing this complicated anywhere else?

Colleges are smaller than universities and don't attract the same level of talent. Good Canadian University teams would compete w/ DII and some DI schools. I don't know what to compare good college teams with (maybe DIII or JUCO's?).

A college education is also less expensive and they tend to offer shorter curriculums. They could be a stepping stone towards University.

The men play basically the same rules (NCAA w/ modifications) but colleges (around here) have more modifications. The college games are very challenging as the athletes are just as quick and sometimes equally skilled yet they only use 2 referees (it's a real good run!)

Women is a completely different story. I'd explain but after talking about this I reminded myself I have a lot of manuals/rules to read...so I must go
