Shooter gets own rebound

Airborne fumble post reminded me of my last game in kids rec.

We had 3-4 cases where the shooter attempts a shot and gets his/her own rebound without the ball touching rim or backboard. My partner calls traveling each time.

I believe this is a legal action.

Who is right?

What if the player catches his/ her own pass?

Anything legal there?

Oh, by the way, I like the new forum.
