If you watch carefully, a trend seems to have developed in allowing people catching passes to make an extra pivot. I don't know if this is a tendency to not call it because it could be considered ticky-tack, the officials aren't seeing it, or for some other reason.

What I'm talking about is the person receiving a pass in the air, landing on one foot first and then the second, and then picking up the first foot and pivotting on the second.

By definition, the first foot down is the pivot. So, without dribbling, passing, or shooting, the player has picked up and returned his pivot to the floor. This is a travel.

Why is it not being called? It seems to be generating a major advantage, in my opinion, to be allowed to take a full extra step.
