Did anybody see how Teddy Valentine handle Coach K during the last minute of the game. I think Coach K was loooking for a foul and screaming at the other official. Comments?

Teddy did a good job of keeping Coach K away from the other official by talking to him. He probably prevented a T.

I liked it.

I agree, it just looked funny.

Let me get this straight, Valentine keep coach K away from another D1 official and that's good? looked ridiculous and like Natili should have been able to took care of the situation himself!
just an observation.

Nice job, you got it straight. Any more questions?

The only thing is that it looked very strange the way he was doing it. The camera was right on Teddy and Coach K. I have never seen that done before.

My mistake thought we were talking about
officials. I guess this was about camera
work..my bad..

We were. But for some reason, you seemed to think that preventing a T was not a good thing. . .

I never mentioned a Technical foul.
I'm certain the official being "protected"
could have used his own skills to diffuse the
situation.
I just wonder what his take was on being protected?
I know what my feeling would be.

Why do you think that Teddy Valentine doing that was a ridiculous act? Please explain.

Junker Wed Mar 08, 2006 01:26pm

My feeling would be, "thanks for backing me up partner." I didn't see the game, but judging from the posts, Coach K was all upset about a no call and Teddy V. was beside him so Teddy did a little game management. Is that how it happened? If it is, I think it's a nice job of working as a crew.

Whatever. Glad you got it all figured out, lanyard. Have a great career.

If one of my partners is closer to a coach and can keep the coach off my ***, I'll thank him for it later.

What really pisses me off is, when I'm sitting there having a dialogue with a coach. And my partner feels the need to diffuse that by coming right in the middle of it and whacking the coach.

Conversation in the locker room after the game:

"Hey, great no-call on that play, partner"

"Thanks. And thanks for keeping Coach K off my ***. I would have hated to have to T him in that situation."

Of course, if we thought "outside the box" like lanyard wants us to, the conversation would be...

"Hey, great no-call on that play, partner."

"How the f@ck do you think you are getting in the way of Coach K like that. Let him come after me so I can T his f@cking *** right then and there. I'll stick it to him good. Don't you ever mess with my game again."

Whew...guess "thinking outside the box" isn't so great after all.

Again never mentioned "T".
Credibility is the issue.

Lanyard, I think you're opinion of this one is the wrong one with the majority of posters on this board.

Accept that and move on.

So the official isn't credible because his partner kept a coach from getting whacked?

Welcome to the board! You've got a lot to learn, maybe we can help. :)

Exactly Whistle. There's a difference between preventing and interjecting. Teddy V was using preventative game management. It would be a whole different story if the other official was engaged in dialogue with Coach K and then Teddy V came in and did the body block.
