I am doing a survey for basketball fees. If possible could you let me know what you make for the followin:

Varsity Game 3 man crew
Double Header Varsity Game 3 man crew.

Please include what state you are from and if possible a contact person and number.

here in kentucky every region is different, the state says minimum requirements and all the local policy boards either go with that minimum or bump it up a little for each of the individual 16 regions.

so in our region during the season: we are pretty much the average from surrounding regions.
3 man varsity $65 (no mileage)other regions$50-$75)
double header varsity $130

districts: 3 man $50 plus .30 a mile i got $92 last night!
regions: 3 man $60 plus .30 a mile will get around $105 next week during regionals

Ref in PA Wed Mar 01, 2006 12:54pm

In PA the crew is paid by the school. The game fee is different for each school district. This year I was paid $45 - $65 for a 3 man crew working a varsity game. Most school pay $50. In my area of the state there are no varsity doubleheaders. We have a different (usually 2 man) crew for the JV game, followed by the varsity game. I am located in Western PA.

LongIslandZebra Wed Mar 01, 2006 01:28pm

In my area of NY we work only 2 man varsity games. Double-headers are never assigned, different crews for JV and Varsity work. The fee for a varsity game is $104, with higher amounts given for playoff games. Not too bad!!

RefNVa Wed Mar 01, 2006 05:12pm

SwVa $55.00 + $5.00 for travel
2 x $55.00 for V dh.

In Cleveland, Ohio area

Varsity is virtually all 3 person--$50-60 per ref
JV is around $35 for a 2 person game.

Fees are set by conference or school if they are independent.

JRutledge Thu Mar 02, 2006 04:56pm

I thought we could not talk about things that have a regional answer? :D

The best way I can tell you is it varies so much, there are no set fees.

I have been paid for a single 3 Person game as low as $45 to $60. It depends on the conference you are working. There are no across the board fees unless you are working the playoffs.

I cannot tell you what takes place at the JV level, I do not work enough of those games to have a read on those fees. I just know those are almost always 2 Person and they do not get paid as much as the varsity officials.

Peace

I can't cut and paste the table, but here's the link to fees in Texas:

in CA

just from my own experience [level],

2-whistle
JV - $38.00 (7 min Qs) or $41.00 (8 min Qs)
V - $54.00

3-whistle
JV - $27.33
V - $38.00

...each game.

Forksref Thu Mar 02, 2006 08:44pm

I work both ND and MN:

ND State Rates $54 each for V 2-man or 3-man
$27 each for JV / Soph / 9th
$22 for JH

Minnesota has gone to 18 minute halves so we agreed on $60 for V JV still at 16 minute halves = $27 This is a local agreement as I believe MN does not have a state rate, everything is local agreements.

Spareme Fri Mar 03, 2006 09:50am

In my area of NY, we only use 2 person crews.

Mod. (5th quarter) - $56 (Only to point out that you can make more for a Mod. game than JV)

JV. $53

Var. $75

No doubleheaders.

It's definitely interesting to see what people are getting in other places.

In the Baton Rouge area of Louisiana:

Single game varsity - $48

Jv/Varsity Double - $57

Varsity Double - $57

Varsity Double in a Tournament -$75

We are actually in the middle of getting these fees increased. They have not been moved in 15 years. It may get ugly.

Maryland/West Virginia

Our fees are new this year-

Varsity- $57.50 or $60 for 3 man ( no travel )

JV- $38 or $40 2 man ( No travel )

One school gets-
Vasity 2 man - $70 ( No travel ) for Girls

We do get travel for 2 schools that are 60 miles away.

We rarely do doubles, but dues to injuries and illness, we are this year, lots!

ref2coach Wed Jan 17, 2007 05:09pm

Middle TN is almost all double assignments.
MS G+B $55, 6 min. quartrers, 2 person crew, single game $35
F + JV G+B $65, 8 min. quarters, 2 person crew, single game $40
V G+B $70, 8 min. quarters, all 3 person crew, single game $45

No milage except post season District or Regional assignments. But even then it is only 15 cents per mile.
