This scenario came to me out of the blue and I've never seen it happen...but I believe it is legal and should be granted.....

Team A has control in their frontcourt, the ball deflects off of one of Team A's players into the backcourt. In order to avoid a definate backcourt violation, either Team A's player or the head coach requests a time out prior to touching the ball. Should the time out be granted?

Assuming the ball is loose after the deflection, no - do not grant the request, as the ball is not in anybody's player control.
