Anyone out there come across any good tournament rules to keep things clean or keep things moving? Had a tournament for 8th graders in Green Bay, and they had two rules I liked a lot:

•Any player or coach was removed for two technicals in the tournament. You've never seen so many polite coaches!

•Instead of a timed overtime, the first team to score three points in the extra period won the game. Makes for some intense action!

One tournament I had "The first team who scored would win the game if the game was tied"

1. Each team get's 3 TO per game.
2. 20 minute halves and the clock runs except on TO til the last minute.
3. 2T rule as already mentioned.
4. Free consessions for the officials.

Yeah, that rule #4 always goes over well with me, especially when they're serving beer at the concession stand. The Catholics in our area sure know how to run a tournament! :D

I don't know if I'd like the 'first score' rule. How about they treat it like college football? Each team gets one possession, inbound the ball at midcourt. The possession ends with a score or when B secures the ball. Repeat until there's a score differential.

So, the game starts 0-0 and the first team that scores, wins? :p

I like the first team to score 5 points in the OT wins. That means it takes at least 2 possessions to win. Each team gets a chance to score. With the rule at 3 points, whoever gets the jump could win on their first shot without the other team getting the ball.

Of course, it doesn't matter in my games since I don't allow overtimes.

That's it?

At the beginning of the game, the score is tied. Does the first basket win then?
