I agree we al use a form of advantage disadvantage. But I think the true point of this post is what comments should be made between official and coach. Is this a propper communication process? I would not say a/d coach loud enough for a fan to hear and more likely wouldn't say anything at that point.

Another example of communication with a coach. You make an offensive foul call on a drive to the basket. As you are reporting the coach is very vocal that the defensive player's feet weren't set (or moving). Is this the time to explain legal gaurding position?

The point is that good communication is an important part of the job butgood communication doesn't mean alot of communication.

Wrong! The true point of this post regards officials using Ad/DisAd and when it should be used and when it shouldn't. An ancillary point is whether or not some officials can effectively apply Ad/DisAd.

You might not go into an entire presentation on what LGP is, but I would use that language when I am talking to a coach. So if the issue ever comes up, using the rulebook language is not going to go along with the "his feet were not set" argument in the long run. I would not yell across the court, but if I was standing right next to a coach I would probably say something if this coach was being reasonable.

Peace
