Okay, so here is the situation with an upcoming game.
A NJCAA (NCAA Rule Book) team is coming into town with six players on its bench. What if this team has two players disqualified either via foul-out or disqualification. I was once told that the player to receive his/her 5th foul, would not be disqualified, but rather a team technical foul is called. Can somebody elaborate on this subject in which is very fuzzy for me. |
Welcome to the forum, steve33.
Nothing fuzzy there. After the start of a game with 5 players, each team may continue to play with fewer than five players when all other squad members are not eligible to play. [NCAA 3-1-1,2] |
This was posted several weeks ago (except in that scenario it was a T every time the DQ player fouled): in high school and college (NCAA), there is NO stipulation that allows for a disqualified player to continue playing.
I have no idea where this nonsense originated. |

See page 6 for the NBA interpretation. For highschool and NCAA, if the player gets his/her 5th foul, then automatic disqualification. If in the judgment of the officials the team has a chance to win, then you could go all the way down to 1 player. |
