Can someone explain what a offensive hooking foul is?

Like a defensive hooking foul, only committed by a player whose team has the ball at the time.

It's merely a type of holding foul.

A hook occurs when the pivot man extends one hand behind him, holds the defensive man between his extended arm and his body, and then spins (pivots) around the defender while the defender is basically unable to move defensively.

Try this. Offensive Hooking.

Point guard moving across the top of the key dribbling right handed. Starts a move directly down the lane.

Takes left hand (arm) and wraps it around the defender and 1) breaks defensive chase and 2) uses left arm as a lever to further themselves down the lane.

Hooking.
