I was wondering if someone could point me in the rules book to where it says that a person is not to have an open hand on the platers back when guarding him. (Two guys under the basket and the defesive player is riding the offeseive player by his hand in the middle of his back. Where does it say that an open hand is not pewrmitted. Thanks

Rules 10-6-1, "Use of hands" statement.

The hand in the back violation hasn't changed much in my opinion. My JV year, in '67, in my first game, I got 3 quick fouls for defending a Post Player in that manner. (I still remember.) I was just resting my hand on his back like the NBA Players did on TV. I soon learned that HS Refs in the Bristol County League (Mass) called that technique a "push".
