Is tripping considered a hold of block? Since there is no preliminary signal for tripping. Unintentional tripping - there is a foul here but how do you report it?

I report tripping as a block, but it probably should be given a signal of its own since if you look at the structure of 10-6-1, tripping is listed as a separate offense.

4-7-1 . . . Blocking is illegal personal contact which impedes the progress of an opponent with or without the ball.

Rule 10
SECTION 6 CONTACT
ART. 1 . . . A player shall not: hold, push, charge, trip; nor impede the progress of an opponent by extending an arm, shoulder, hip or knee, or by bending the body into other than a normal position; nor use any rough tactics.

I'm not sure how you would get a hold out of a trip. I'd vote block, but I think they really ought to consider adding a signal for trip.

I use a block, can't signal using any type of leg trip or anything like that since NFHS mechanics don't allow for any type of signal.
