We are looking into the feasibility of implementing background checks for all members of our local board. Does anyone have any history regarding this type of endeavor? Appreciate any feedback.

Our state organization does the background checks for a state license. Local associations are in place so they can train officials. I would think for a local organization that would be expensive.

Peace

We (Oregon) get ours done through the state organization, but we have to pay for it ourselves. We are required to have one each year, regardless of how many sports we officiate.

Our state (Washington) requires it every two years. It costs us nothing (or else it's included in our yearly dues). ?? It isn't an "end-all," but it has certainly weeded out some people who should not be on the floor with a bunch of high school kids. I'm all for it.
