Does a coach's leash get any shorter after their opposing coach has already been assessed a direct technical foul?

Would love to hear some of your opinions. Thanks

IMO, if they don't take the hint, whack 'em.

Why would it?

Give each coach the exact same leash. Why would anyone ever dream of treating them different?

Gotta agree. Treat all coaches the same, not matter if you've thrown a T or not.

Keep it SIMPLE!!! Too much going on on the court to have different criteria and behavior deminsions for each coach.

Do you hold a foul on the floor because the player guarding them just collected?

When I coached, I became a perfect angel if the other coach got whacked.

Saw this happen to a partner - middle of second half, and both coaches had been doing some chirping. Partner went to report a foul, where somehow, both coaches were up complaining about the call. Partner gives team A's coach an "ABS" T (maybe because he happened to be in his line-of-sight as he was reporting the original foul), then whirled around to look at team B's coach. You would've thought someone had shoved the coach back, because he sat down so quick. Never heard a word from either coach for the remainder of the game.

Treat each coach the same. The smart ones can learn their limits from how you handle the other coach.

You were obviously one of the smart ones. ;)

Coaches recognise the limits you set OR THAT YOU ALLOW. A few times I have found myself in a situation where because I have let one howler money act stupid, the other coach has stood up and said "Well if he is going to do that..." and then proceed to start his own howling.

I've have heard them make this comment and then start with the complaining. And then when you tell them together that enough is enough. Please sit down. They will make a restatement "Well if you are going to let him do it..."

Set the same limits. They will be recognized.

Perhaps in the situation above (both coaches howling) a Double T might have been warranted - no shots, no point advantage given, no change in possession, both must sit down. Nice solution... maybe. Had To Be There.

What is an ABS "T"? (Ah Better Shut-up?)

I think we should make sure that we apply the same standards to both...be willing to T the other coach if they do the same thing.

That opposing coach will likely chose to back off some knowing that you are willing to call a T....just to not take chances.
