NF 10.1.5 still uses the term "Allow the game to develop into an actionless contest" for a definition of a team technical but the specifics are now defined and just holding the ball is not one of them. Besides, which team would be violating if this was a rule, the team holding the ball or the team standing back and letting them do it?

As to making the shot clock mandatory, try convincing my local school district to spend money on shot clocks instead of teacher salaries. Yeah - that would go over big. As a taxpayer, I wouldn't support it.

Hmmm, so what did the coach on defense do?? Just sit there and not tell his girls to play?? Whatever floats their boat though... :)

If I was working this game, I think after about 3 minutes I would have ran and got some popcorn. ;)

Where's Mr. Grammar Guy? He doesn't get to take Christmas off! :)

He must be subbing in for Santa. I'll take over here....

Tanner, you should have said, "I woulda done gone and run to get some..." :D

I'm so glad you finally learnt the proper way to speak redneck -- like me. :D

Unless you can find a rulebook from around 25-30 years ago, you ain't gonna find it in a rule book either, John. It was a "T" under certain circumstances back then, but that rule has been gone a long time. I think that your "senior" official needs to buy a new rule book- and it might be a good idea if he reads it also. :D
Reference to Actionless appears in 2004 10-5. Dscribes a team technical for "Allow the game to develop into an actionless contest ......

R10-1-5 isn't applicable. Holding the ball on offense is not one of the "T"-able acts listed under that rule, nor is it similar in nature to the named acts..

Good luck finding competent shot clock operators, or finding money to pay them (or even install the equipment)with districts making more and more cuts to their athletic budgets.

I don't want a shot clock in HS. Some things can wait until juco or college ball. This, in my not always so humble opinion, is defintely one of them.
