I did not work this game but had came out of the locker room to watch the last few minutes of this game. With about 10 seconds left, team B take a 1 point lead with a wild 3-point bank shot. Team A inbounds quickly and has an immediate turnover. Team B just holds the ball and team A ties it up....posession arrow team A with 4.5 seconds left. Team A inbounds and is fouled with 2 seconds on the clock. 1-1 bonus. If this wasn't bad enough, here's where it gets crazy.............A1 steps to the line and swishes the first (tie game). Sets to shoot the second and B1 is waving his hands and shouting at the shooter. A1 misses and the refs call disconcertion. Both officials let B1 know he can't do that. A1 sets to shoot and B1 starts shouting at him again, disconcertion is called. A1 finally hits the next try and team A wins.
I have never seen anything like this and thought I'd share it with the group. I couldn't believe coach B didn't pull his player off the lane or sub him out for this. I suppose as long as you keep giving A1 his free throw you have not put him at any disadvantage but at some point, should an unsportsmanship conduct T be called?

From a POE in the 2001/02 rule book-- "If disconcertion is persistent or deemed unsporting, the team/player may be penalized with a technical foul". Judgement call. |

Shoot the 2 free throws for the T then have A1 return to the line for his second throw for the 1 and 1. or Shoot the second of the 1 and 1 with lane cleared, then the two for the T and give the ball to team A. I believe this is the correct procedure. |
