In 1984 I attended a rules clinic in Europe which was put on by Frosty Francis of IAABO. He told this story:

At the opening toss the referee tosses the ball about 40 feet into the air. Once the ball came down he re-tossed and the game continued.

At halftime, the umpire asked the referee what happened? "Well, just as I looked down to get my whistle I noticed that my pants were unzipped. So I tossed it high and while 10,000 people watched the ball I zipped up my pants."

And, this was before spandex http://www.ereferee.com/ubb/smile.gif

I have always heard that you can't throw the jump ball to high, i guess that's true!

Being over 50 and getting sore muscles i have been wearing a black nylon underwear from the ankles to the waist. They are very lite and extremely cool but are tight around the legs especially the hamstring and calf muscles and keep everything snug and warm. This past Saturday evening while officating a varsity game i did one of my "gazelle like moves" and the fans in the third row could hear my pants explode. Luckily my black tights saved me, no one could see my openness, but i could tell by the breeze exactly what happened.

You'll never know until you try it.

Hey Don, I too wear full length spandex and yes, they have saved me from embarassing situations.

I saw where today it was supposed to be -35 in Fairbanks http://www.ereferee.com/ubb/smile.gif

Will the short black Mcdavid's do the job? http://www.ereferee.com/ubb/wink.gif

Hey Richard, yes they will work fine (personal preferance) you may want to talk to others or try some different kinds. What works for one may not work for all.

Bruce Silliman,

Well according to the weatherman, it's going to be between 40 to 50 BELOW ZERO! And that should be for the next week or two.

Life goes on and we will survive, plus it keeps the rif raf away.
