Is this rule an unlimited rule? Can a team literally request a defensive matchup "every" time three or more substitutes enter the game?
I worked a girls JH game where the visiting team requested a defensive matchup at the start of all 4 quarters. It just about drove the home team coach crazy. He kept complaining and all I could say was, "It's in the rule book, coach."

We have a couple of jh fall leagues where the kids have a match-up every "eighth". They play four running minutes, and then sub and match-up. At this level, it seems pretty reasonable. These girls barely know who their teammates are, much less who they're supposed to be guarding.

To answer the original question, yes, the captain may request the defensive match up each and every time three or more substitutes enter from the opposing team. There is no limit to how many times per game.
But please note that THE CAPTAIN is the one who has to make this request per 3-3-1e. The coach cannot do it, nor can other players. If others make the request you should not honor it. |

That's just me though. Nevada, I take it that you won't answer any questions during the game if they aren't asked by the captain. Right? That's in the book too. R3-1-2. |
