Ahhh, November.

Maple sugar, pretty leaves, rain on the roof, Monday night football, sweet potato fries, and the first association meeting of the year. Life just doesn't get much better than this!

You guys wait until November to have your first meeting?

We have had 3 already and the 4th will be this week. We are more than halfway over.

Peace

Well, our association had their first one two weeks ago, but I couldn't be there. So my first meeting will be this Thursday. I'm sure others have had some games as well, but my first game won't be until next Wed.

So it just doesn't seem official, so to speak, until things are in full swing.

Unless your Assignor of BBall officials goes off on one of the veterans (who is the Area Director for VB officials) about how he doesn't care that the Director of the Jr. High basketball tournament that he worked told him he could wear black wind pants instead of his normal black pants... and then they exchange a few cuss words with one another... No wonder we don't have very many officials in our association and we end up working just as much JV as we do Varsity in order to cover all the games....

I have had 3 college scrimmages already. My first scrimmage was on October 10. The HS season starts in about 3 weeks. So we are right here already.

Peace

You guys all talk as if it's basketball that makes this such a happy time of year. Actually, it's the sweet potato fries that I can't wait for!!

Sweet potato fries? Must be a northwest thing, can't stand them.

But I do love autumn, with or without basketball.

We have a local burger chain that has a booming business using "local" ingredients and specializing in "high quality", fancy fast food. They do sweet potato fries this time of year, and I love them. Although I'd gladly trade them in for the Walla Walla sweet onion rings, which they only sell for about six weeks, around August/September. Those are to die for.
