i think we have discussed before, A1 throws ball from end to end at the buzzer at own basket, ball hits floor:
A) behind three point line and goes in??
B) inside three point line and goes in??

award two or three points?

it's funny you never think it would happen but it's happened already in two games this year, jr high, anything can and will happen!! :)

P.S. -- ignore the cranky guy who responded first in that thread.

Three points is NEVER correct for this play.

Two points is possible, but a third option: Award zero points.
Might be the correct choice in your case.

I am sorry, I could not resist.

Actually, no, b/c we were still hanging around at that point. That thread was from last year, when the Red Sox actually won the World Series!!!!!

Not this year, but I'll take what I get. :)

Have you explained to your young daughter that it's likely you'll never get to say this again in your lifetime?...? or hers?

In any font size?

Only Cubs and White Sox fans have had a longer drought. Will the Cubs be the Centennials on their alternate jerseys in 2008?

Case book rule 5.1.1
If ball strikes the floor without touching a player and bounces into the basket the TWO points are scored.
If the time expires while the ball is in flight or a foul occurs, then the try ends when the ball touches the floor.

Thanks for bringing this back on-topic and providing the appropriate case play.

I hate it when Red or White Sox fans, Yankee fans, or Cardinal fans keep interjecting their off-topic comments. ;)

The try ends when it is apparent that it will not be successful. That point is when the ball falls below the level of the ring. This is true whether or not a foul occurs or time expires.

What you meant to state above was that if time expires or a foul occurs while the ball is in flight after bouncing off the floor, then the ball becomes dead immediately at that point. The try was already over.
