I play in a Rec League that plays with NCAA rules.

Is it required to call a delay-of-game warning before a delay Technical is called?

Also, do delay of game technicals, count as 1 of the 2 technicals towards disqualification.

Thanks for any help.

That would all depend on what happen. There are some things that you think might be a delay that warrant a Technical. You would have to tell us what happen to answer your question clearly.

I think you need to give what kind of delay you had. I think there is more than just one.

Here is an expansion of the details.

The offensive player had a sleeveless T-shirt with a piece of tape as the number 1 (player forgot jersey and had to improvise). On a fast break, a defensive player grabbed to foul and pulled on the tape. The referee picked up the tape, walked to the scorer's table and called a technical for delay of game.

At the beginning of the game, the same referee called a technical on the same player for a non-matching jersey.

The referee considered this 2 technicals and threw the player out of the game. As the team captain, I found this to be a bit strange. I didn't think of either technical as an "ejectable" technical and wanted an expert opinion in case I'm wrong.

Thanks again for any help.

You got hosed.

The NCAA rules are not going to cover such things because of this. Why? Because jerseys with tape for numbers are not allowed. However, wearing an illegal jersey and delay of games are indirect technical fouls under NCAA rules. A player must receive a combination of three direct and indirect techicals to be ejected. NCAA 10-4-5

You should probably check with the league director and see what the rules are regarding jerseys.

Here's a link to the NCAA Rules.
