Timer stops clock

Last few seconds of the game, Team A, who is losing, scores a basket to bring the score to within 2 points. The timer stopped the clock when the ball went through the basket. My partner and myself both realized the clock stopped with 2.5ish seconds left. We ended the game on the timing error.

Should we have done anything different?
