Any new stuff that you got during the off season that you are eager to use?

seioaump Wed Sep 14, 2005 10:48am

A life....

So I don't post questions like that....

And new socks as well..

Junker Wed Sep 14, 2005 10:56am

It's a legit question this time of year. I bought a couple new pair of shoes I'm looking forward to checking out. I got to wear them a few times this summer, but it's not like the real season. I found some patent leather Addidas that look pretty sweet. Unfortunately they were on clearance so I'm guessing the model was discontinued.

ref18 Wed Sep 14, 2005 11:47am

I picked up a new knee brace this summer and am looking to see how it holds up in the 8 game days.

I got a few pairs of pants and some new shirts but i'm not really eager to wear them, they're just like the old pair only newer.

ChuckElias Wed Sep 14, 2005 11:48am

Shoes, for me, too. Nike Air Monarch II's. I'm gonna try 'em as-is first, but I may also throw in an insert to try out.

What's a life?

And, where do you get one if you don't have one?

I'm waiting to try out those new OC shoes. And, also waiting to see if I get one of those new shirts they advertised in the e-mail.

Looking forward to wearing my new "micro-mesh" (it's softer than before) jockstrap.

I got a new pair of Nike Shox that I am anxious to try out.

tomegun Wed Sep 14, 2005 08:02pm

I got a couple of top-secret things I'm going to bust out this season.

It is funny, I anxious for the season to start but the last two weeks is the first break I've had all summer so I have enjoyed coming home and watering the grass.

I am a new member to the forum but I have been looking at it for quite some time. I have found a lot of the information I have read on here to be very helpful. I have been officiating hoops for a few moons now and feel like I stil have a lot to learn. I am currently working high school, and some Junior College Hoops in the wisconsin area. I am on the staff of the D-3 conference in the area and am waiting to be scheduled. Now that I am a member, I hope my input can help someone out as the input on here has certainly helped me out.

P.S. I read a thread about the Dolphin Whistle...Where can I get one to try out. Thanks again and keep calling them like we see them.

I can't wait to sport my new haircut this season. It should help with the wind resistance is I all of a sudden start running faster.

What was your secret to losing the weight? Was it excerise, Southbeach, or the pushaway diet?

Junker Fri Sep 16, 2005 10:17am

One thing I'm thinking about picking up is the rules and casebook on cd for the computer. Is it worth the money? Can I load it onto my palm pilot? Someone posted the website to order it, but I haven't done so yet. I'm especially interested in the baseball one as I'm newer to baseball and need some work (a couple of coaches might say alot of work) on the rules.

I don't really agree but even if they were sharp, you'd want your partners to have the same shirts too.

I don't worry about that stuff (ie., patches, poly, panels) at all, except if my partner has V-neck, then I wear V-neck. If my partner wears byron collar, then I wear V-neck.

New Nike Air Monarch IIs. I've worn them for volleyball and they are soooo comfortable. I added an Odor Eater (for obvious reasons) and a Dr. Sholl's orthotic for a little extra support. Also, new pants. I've lost 28 pounds and the old ones were falling off. And a new belt to go with the pants! (Here we go on the belted / beltless thing!) I've also been using a Fox 40 Mini CMG for volleyball. I noticed that the new Mini CMGs are the same size as my old Classic CMG and is every bit as loud. The new Classic CMGs feel like you're putting a 2x4 in your mouth! Finally, gonna get a new pre-game jacket soon. The satin finish one from between the lines.

One size down with 25 lbs less? I would go down more sizes than that if I lost 25 lbs.

I was squeezing into those 36's at my heaviest - I refused to buy *gasp* size 38 pants. So I was stretching the 36's to their breaking point. Now I'm wearing 34's comfortably - loosely even. I could probably squeeze into a 32 if I dropped 10 more...

Good job, Smitty.

ARS Software

I've got last years version of the ARS software for Basketball. It requires the CD, so it won't run on your Palm Pilot.

It's nice to be able to do a search for the rules, but no especially useful without a PC handy (like in the locker room).

It does include the previous 5 Part I and II tests. I bought it to prepare for last years Part II and it was very helpful.

Snake~eyes Tue Sep 20, 2005 03:53pm

I'd love a palm pilot version, that'd be really cool.

Junker Tue Sep 20, 2005 03:56pm

Grail,
Thanks for the info. I might see if some of the guys I work with alot want to share it and the cost. I can see where it would be a nice tool to have. I thought someone posted a place where you could get the rules book on PDF that would load on a palm pilot? Anyone else remember that, or am I starting to lose it?

I got mine at Dick's Sporting Goods. Their website is, predictably: http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/

I looked quickly through the site and couldn't find the Monarchs, but I might have overlooked them. I got mine in the store. Good luck.

26 Year Gap Wed Sep 21, 2005 07:11am

OC is efficient compared to dickssportinggoods.com . Supposedly a shipment of my order was made on 8-31. Tried tracking it to no avail. After 2 1/2 weeks we were told it was still in the warehouse, but the order could not be cancelled because it had a tracking number. Which of course couldn't be tracked. I will never order from them again. I will show them that the order can indeed be cancelled when I call my credit card company.

Love them. From comparing them to my OLD CMGs they look to be the identical size. Don't worry about the volume. They will pin people's ears to the wall! It was basically a combo of the exercise and pushaway. I've never really called it a diet that did it for me, cause I still pretty much eat all of the same things I did before, it's just that now I'm more careful about quantities. Additional exercise was a conscious effort on my part, including the purchase of a new treadmill last January. Overall, I'm closing in on a 60 lbs lost since the end of last October.

So, on that note, I guess you could say I'm looking forward into fitting in to some much smaller pants this season. Honigs will love me. I wrote a little more about my loss in the Training thread sometime last week.

26 Year Gap Mon Oct 03, 2005 05:34pm

Hoist a 50 lb bag of potatoes next time you're in the supermarket & carry it around for awhile. That'll give you a real good idea of what you have accomplished. Good job.
