I flew in Wednesday morning, and am back in the states for good (well, at least for the next 16 months or so). The baby I came home to is terrific, as are his mom and sister. Thanks for your prayers.

Sheez, that didn't last long! Glad you made it safe and sound.

Anytime one of our soldiers comes home from Iraq that is a blessing. I hope you enjoy your time here and do not have to come back. I have a good friend that officiates has left. I hope he comes back soon too.

Peace

Yeah, it was a short trip, just shy of two months. Next time, it will likely be four to six months (the joys of the Air Force verses the Army), but that won't likely be for another year and a half or so.
Incidentally, I was actually in Qatar at a hub base. My Dad went to Iraq shortly before I came home, and he stopped at my base for a ten-hour layover. We'd thought he'd have a few days, but ten hours was better than nothing.
Instead of the beer I'd hope to have with him, I was able to settle for dinner with him. He also brought me some pictures of my son.
It was a good trip, in all honesty. I learned a lot and did a lot. I'm also in better shape for basketball season. After all, that's the most important thing. Although I did refrain from volunteering to officiate their IM leagues, as I had little interest in adult ball this summer.

There's a sad story running today on comcast.net about a soldier home in the States for a 2-week leave from Iraq. He happened along a car that had just hit a pole on the side of the road. While trying to help the driver, the soldier accidently stepped on a downed power wire and died.

Glad you're back, Adam. Now stay safe.
