To clarify the "beep test" - it's a hellish FIBA invention (not really, although they use it on their officials) where two lines or markers or blocks are placed a set distance apart. You start at one block and walk/jog to the other while a pre-recorded tape or CD is played. After a certain period of time, the tape "beeps" and you're supposed to be at the opposite block - not late, and not early. As the test progresses, the interval between beeps decreases.
The easiest comparison is that of suicides. Instead of changing the distance run, however, the time in which to run is changed.
