I, probably like most people, haven't logged into the Official's Center in a while. However, I did last night and saw the newest item read: "IHSA Officials Merchandise". Now, my first thought was: cool, they are going to offer uniforms, etc. However, it appears the items they are selling are for your pre-game dress. Anyone planning on getting any of these items? I think they look pretty sharp.

Hmmm...it must be pretty exciting - everyone's trying to access that page and it's overloading the system. I can't seem to get to it right now. I guess I'll have to wait a while to see how much I can improve my look. ;)

I can't, however I'm at work that has a very solid firewall.

I think it's a conspiracy - the powers that be never want their employees looking too good. Or, at least better than them. ;)

Kind of hard to wear a tie with those golf shirts.

Tie?

What's a tie?

Jurassic Referee Mon Aug 01, 2005 12:04pm

Well, I got into it with that link- <i>no problemo</i>.

Just a suggestion:
1)Go to local WalMart.
2)Buy a dark colored pullover and golf shirt, and a white Magic Marker.
3)Use white Magic Marker to write <b>"IHSA"</b> on shirt and pullover.
4)Take $20 saved/item and buy brownpop.

If you need any further instructions on what to do next, you haveta still be a rookie official. :D

I admit that I dress a little more casually for a HS game, but I wear a tie to all my NCAA games.

SeanFitzRef Mon Aug 01, 2005 12:51pm

Who wears a tie to their games in Illinois? I haven't ever worn a tie to a game (don't have to wear one to work, refuse to add one after that).

Besides, coaches think we'll choke on something anyway, no extra ammunition.

No wonder I couldn't get in at first - I don't know Spanish.

Of course, I can save even more by using some of the same crayons I use to write on my computer screen. :D

Chuck, I have worn a tie to some of my college games as well, but it's amazing how many people still go so casual as to warrant e-mails from supervisors specifying no jeans, t-shirts, warmup suits, etc. Maybe the next e-mail will have to deal with flip-flops?...

I'll but Rut does? How about it JR?

They used to just have a bunch of older left over stuff in the merchandise section? Anything new? Also, if any of you should feel the urge to call the Official's Department with a question right now, DON'T. They are stressed right now and a I think a little short-handed I think. I called to ask a simple question yesterday and talked to some one who shall remain nameless, but who came across like a Pit Bull with rabies!

I know several people that wear a tie to games. Some of it depends on who you work for and where you work. I do not care what other people do. I try to look my best because that is the first impression I am giving. I might not always wear a tie, but I wear polo shirts with association logos or other gear that deals with officiating. But I have gone to HS games with a tie and a suit. I wear a suit many times to work and I have to leave work to go directly to games.

Peace

FYI

If you log into your account on your birthday, in your messages it tells you "Happy Birthday" at the top.

Yep, you guessed it, it's a reallllllllllllly slow morning for me today!

Hey, Happy Birthday! If I remember right from the picture posted a while back, you should be, what, 16 or 17 now? :D

I've never seen that message on my birthday, probably because mine is in April and I ignore the site for a few months after basketball season ends.

So, what time do we all come over for cake?

tjones1 Wed Aug 10, 2005 09:04am

Close M&M... add three years to your higher guess (how did Ricky Williams get dragged into this? :D :))

Cake will be available at virtualcake.com from 4:00-5:00pm.

Yep, I wear one 90% of the time. I have to wear it for work and just keep it on. Our association has specific guidelines for "proper attire to be worn to the game" and it states for the men to wear a coast and tie with dress slacks. Turtlenecks are an acceptable alternative. As in other associations, we have officials that don't always follow the guidelines. We can wear our uniforms to MS games, but even if I do a freshman game at one school and do a varsity game at another school, I am supposed to change out of the uniform between games.
