Hey,I've had partners like that. Male usually. You're trying to pregame and they've got the brushes, combs, hairspray, gel, crazyglue, etc. out and they're standing mesmerized before a mirror. You might as well wait until they're done, which is usually about 3 minutes before you haveta get out on the floor. And even then, you get the following discourse:

Vidal Sassoon: "Anything I should look for out there, partner?"
Me: "Yeah, watch where you're running and don't fall down. You might break your hair".

"But you simply can't get money for girls' athletics. If there is ever a cut in appropriations, it comes out of girls' athletics. Boys get uniforms for games, lockers and towels. But not girls."

Thank goodness for Title IX.

Rick,

I hope you are happy, you just hurt some feelings in here. 50-80% of the officials here fit this situation you have described. I have worked with officials who's hair would not move if they were officiating in a hurricane.

Probably the worst game I ever had was a couple of years ago. My regular partner was sick, so they brought in a 26 year veteran who set up his "bag" on the table in our dressing room. He opened it to reveal a mirror, comb, brush, and hair spray. This thing was a mobile beauty shop. He brushed, sprayed, patted his hair and beard, and primped until things were just right. Repeated this procedure at halftimes and between the two games. Then he proceeded to go out and royally stink up the court and make us both look bad all night long!

Amen! It's an unconscionable injustice that boys can't get hair drying machines like the girls have. :D
