The other night I did some ball games and left my bag (briefcase type) in my car (in front of my house) sometime during the night the bad guys opened up my car and stole my bag and some CDs.
Inside the bg was my wallet, cell phone, rule books, and vouchers to turn in to be paid. The next morning a neighbor found my bag in the street about a mile away. You know what was missing? The rule books (NBA) and my GPS enabled cell phone, and vouchers that cant be used... They left my wallet in tact -did not take the credit cards Oh well somehwre out there is an idiot thief with my NBA rule books...And heres the best part... this was after the finals! |
The phone is of no use to them either. Once you report it as stolen, your phone company will flag that serial # and will not allow anyone else to activate it. Their only benefit is if they sell it and then it becomes someone elses problem.
Vouchers- hopefully you know what you had and you can still get paid for them. Rule books- if they'll actually sit down and read them, maybe, just maybe, you've helped them out. Keep an ear to the stands and if you hear someone who complains about a call and they actually site it correctly, you've got your man. |

Well, if you hear some fan yell something accurately, you'll have found your thief! |

The only advice I can give you is. Do not leave valuables in the car, and always lock your car doors.

I don't bring anything of value (except my cell phone, the value of which is highly debatable) into the venue with me, unless I know that I'll have a locker that I can put my combo lock on. Why? Because I once had $20 stolen from my wallet while it was in the officials' dressing room during a college game. (My partner had $30 stolen.) Where were we? At the Coast Guard Academy in New Haven. :( |
Not to make light of having your money stolen, which sucks tremendously, but perhaps you should have taken heed to the motto of the Coast Guard, "Semper Paratis."
I haven't had anything stolen, but I do the same thing, leave the wallet in the car. My wife worries about it much more than I do, perhaps I am too trusting. |
I don't like to bring my wallet in but then when I'm at some schools, I worry about my car getting broken into.
