What do you do in the case of an inadvertant whistle? Could be over anything. Do you go to the AP or give the ball back to the team that had it at the POI to avoid penalizing the offense when they didn't do anyting?

Just resume play at the POI, same team retains the ball, they just have a throw-in at the nearest spot. If it's on a loose ball when no one has possession, then I go to the arrow.

Remember, just because a ball is "loose" doesn't mean it's not in team control.

This isn't a criticism, just a reminder.

Yeppers.

Perhaps I should have said "a loose ball when no team has possession."

Thanks.

Still not correct, see 4-12-3 and 4-12-4.

You mean there are people on this sight who have blown an inadvertant whistle? I am shocked! I am proud to say that I have not blown one inadvertant whistle since the season has been over.

If there is team control, that team retains control.

If there is no team control, go to the arrow.

If the accidental whistle occurs during a free throw or throw-in, while the thrower still has the ball, just stop play and re-administer the throw.
