Just wondering how long some of yall have until you get started. We have 60 days untill our first meeting, and I cant wait. :)

brainbrian Wed Jun 15, 2005 08:31pm

Meeting for what? Local officials association meeting or something? Until you get games?

I've got games scheduled from tomorrow night all the way throughout the end of October so far and I know people who have many more.

zebraman Wed Jun 15, 2005 08:47pm

Our first meeting isn't until the end of October.

I don't think our official's associatio has meetings. Or maybe they do but just don't want me to eat all the free food and don't invite me.

I'm not seeing anything: :D

Chris, note I joined the local official's association in Rolla this year because I'm going to college there this year and won't be in St. Louis. Mark Probst has already said it would be pointless for me to join the St. Louis association at this point, and that he would give me some games during the Christmas break or other times if I wanted them. I'm not sure if the Rolla association has meetings or not.

But I digress.....

ChrisSportsFan Thu Jun 16, 2005 07:25am

Sorry, I was presuming you meant the association in The Louie.

Brendan, talking just for the sake of talking doesn't accomplish much.

And, it's a pretty futile effort this time of year. Read back threads from the past. or find a good interview and write it up for the paid side. Find some good tapes of March Madness.

Mark--

y'all (pronounced yall)-- Contraction of "you all."A collective pronoun used by Southerners and other people of proper upbringing to refer to a group of two or more people. For those of you living in New York or New Jersey, translate into "yous guys."

Ya'll is a Southern posse.

Come to Pittsburgh Mark, where y'all turns into yinz. For example:..."Yinz goin' dawntawn to da Stillerz game n'at?"--Translation for the non-natives: "Are you going downtown to the Steelers' game?"

We used "youse guys" where I grew up on the south side of Chicago, too. Also - "jeet jet", which means "did you eat yet?"

We used to like to "hock a loogie", too.

Sounds like youse guys is reading from Jeff Foxworthy's Southern dictionary. I'm not a huge Foxworthy fan, but I saw "Blue Collar Comedy Tour", and my favorite southern-ism from that show is "widjadidja", as in, "You didn't bring your truck widjadidja?"

Also -- "Bit it off. Not 'bit it'; bit it off. O-F-F, off. Bit it off!"

I happen to know that y'all is one of God's favorite words. Y'all don't believe me -- just ask Him!

We would have to wait 'til at least May 22, 2006, because that is when the current owner of getalife.com, Up at Night Productions, has it registered.

Ashley, dear, making someone mad isn't the highest achievement one can aspire to. Wouldn't you rather carry on an adult conversation with intelligent, well-informed people who know how to look at all sides of an issue? It's here for the taking, if you'd care to join us...

Actually, ashley, this isn't a sports website. And we let people post here regardless of hair color, or age. May I suggest that if you don't want people to think you're 15, you might clean up the spelling and grammar a little. Your syntax does suggest a bored teen-ager with nothing better to do than chit-chat.

This certainly is an odd off-season thread, but there's no doubt in my mind that of.com falls under the category of a sports website. Officiating is a prime element of sports: at all levels of play. I'm not sure why you don't consider of.com a sports website, but I hope it's not because we don't deal with players stats, team tendencies, trades, etc...

Hey,we do so deal with player stats, team tendencies, trades, etc. We just do it with baseball usually instead of basketball. Unfortunately, a lot of fun has gone out of that pursuit too since the Great Cataclysm of 2004.It is a lot more fun to be the dump-er rather than the dump-ee.Oh well, there's always the Cubs left. And the WhiteSox.And if we get really desperate, the Mariners(Yo,Rocky,ol' buddy).

I had some Catholic buddies who I knew took Cataclysm class in school. I wasn't aware they came out with a new edition in '04. Is that the edition that talks about curses and how to get rid of them? If so, I need to pick it up and see what it says about goats...

Did you actually used to call it Cataclysm class? That's pretty funny. I heard a comedian once say, "I went to Catholic school for 12 years. People ask me why I'm not a Catholic now. That's easy. I went to Catholic school for 12 years!!" :)
